Talking about Mental Health

Mental Health is accessible to everyone.

What matters is being aware that you may need help to reach this state of mental health. In this brief article on Mental Health, I will highlight the main tips for getting there and make a connection that converges on well-being.

Of course, in pathological cases it is essential to seek specialists, doctors and medication. That is not what this article is about; rather, it is about how we can feel mentally healthy to face the challenges of everyday life.

As I mentioned, an understanding of mental health and well-being is the prerequisite for a healthy, balanced life.

By way of analogy, it is almost a formula for reaching this healthy, balanced state.

Self-care is the first component of this equation.

And you do not need to "spend" or "sophisticate" your choices. In your routine, include some kind of regular physical exercise, pay attention to your diet, opting for choices that promote health and eating nutritious foods, sleep properly, do an activity you enjoy at least once a week, meditate if you can – it is nothing more than awakening a state of presence – and take time to relax, even if only for a few minutes a day.

The other component of this formula is Self-knowledge.

Cultivate a deep relationship with yourself.

Get to know your emotions, when and why they arise, and how you react to everyday triggers. By knowing yourself, you recognize your innermost and deepest needs and will know how to deal with them.

Another component is Spirituality.

Spirituality gives us a way of seeing and understanding the challenges in our lives. We often understand the meaning of a situation through spirituality, which comforts us and brings new meaning to that situation, and consequently brings us well-being.

Take care of the Communication component.

How have you been expressing yourself to the outside world? Are you being objective, empathetic?

By practicing conscious communication, your relationships will certainly be more sincere and deeper, bringing well-being and enjoyable relationships.

Another component is Professional Fulfillment.

Do not settle! Look for a place to develop professionally that shares your values and your ethics, where you can be happy. Do not stay with people or in environments you do not believe in. I know it is hard, but I say from my own experience: do not give up! This component is fundamental to your mental health.

Finally, a few other components that are important for your mental health: cultivate self-confidence and resilience (sometimes it is part of the deal to "swallow frogs and give back butterflies"), celebrate your achievements, be with people who are good for you, dream and set goals, appreciate what has value to you and look to stories that inspire you.

To reach a full state of mental health and well-being, it is necessary to adopt a comprehensive formula of actions.

We recognize that some of these components require the guidance and expertise of specialized professionals.

My recommendation is to plan, be disciplined and not give up.

Mental Health as described in this brief article comes with good news: achieving it depends only on you!
